Today started off like normal. I awoke from a disturbing dream where I was about to be killed. I've been having several of these kinds of dreams- the scenario generally is always different but the crux of the story is always the same: some guys always end up shooting at me, but before the bullet kills me I awake.
I had to go feed and change Boris' litter. Boris' is Mini-Beast's lover and a neighbor's cat. This cat hates me because I dislike Mini-Beast having been in a number of altercations with her. Now the way things work are as follows: my neighbors are called DK and Shirka. They leave us a spare key when they go away on vacation and it's my girlfriend's responsibility to go feed this animal and change it's litter. when she cannot do so, I go there and throw food at it then watch their tv and drink their wine. They are a typical spoilt rich yuppie couple and I'd like to believe we have nothing in common with them (except perhaps a healthy and perverse sex life: they have a porn collection).
I went to the house and of course Boris was pissed to see me. I was going to throw it treats (these sweets that it eats) and give it more food but of course it had an attitude. We exchanged some words and both decided the best way to settle the situation was to step outside.
Because my eye is already damaged I'm already at a handicap, something Boris knew quite well and that is why I didn't see him when he lunged at me and scratched the shit out of me on my arm and punched me in the eye.
I left a couple of minutes later, having not fed the bastard. This was around 11:23am. My arm looked weird- a combination of purple and red; a reaction brought about by my allergic reaction towards cats. I stopped by my girlfriends workplace to tell her what happened but she was already on the phone with Boris, no doubt getting a different version of the story. Whatever!
I didn't have LUNCH until about 1:12pm for matters that couldn't be helped. I had a Shawarma from a place next door. Our offices are catered to by this fat Greek lady and her sister in-law caters the place next door. I decided to give her a try, mostly because I wanted to avoid her questions; on top of my eye, my arm was now scared so it's obvious I was up to some dodgy behavior.
A Shawarma is a Middle Eastern-style sandwich with either goat, lamp or chicken meat. Mine had chicken, tomatoes, pita bread, hummus and tahini. I grabbed a micro-brew from the office and leafed through Variety while I ate.

Today I was in San Diego with Zaure looking at buildings and we decided to grab lunch at noon at a place called Chopahn. What a lovely little place this is. Small, quaint and very romantic; not at all what I expected for an Afghani restaurant- but that might implicate I already had something in mind.
We grabbed a place by the window. To start off we ordered some sambosas- 3 each. If you've never eaten a sombosa you have no idea what kind of pleasure you are denying your taste buds. Sambosas are fried pastries filled with ground beef and chickpeas.
For the main course Zaure ordered a Mantu. This is steamed dumplings filled with chopped beef and onions topped with yogurt and sauteed mixed vegetables.
I requested Korma Challaw which is tender chunks of beef cooked with green pepper, onions, tomatoes and spices, served with seasoned basmati rice.
I noticed the beef was extra tender and sweet (obviously an unknown spice was added to the preparation) and the vegetables were noticeably fresh. We both washed down the meal with some Afghan tea known as Cardamom. I can't recommend this place enough. Even the price is can't be beat.

I was asleep all day so didn't have lunch but tonight I ate some oranges for lunch/dinner

Since I rediscovered honey recently i've been using it with everything but now suddenly ants have invaded my flat - not only in my kitchen where I keep the honey ( I keep it in the fridge now ) but in my bathroom and bedroom too! I had no problems with ants before, just cockroaches so I don't think I'll get any more

I made Spaghetti bolognese today with 1 can whole tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce, 1 lb. ground round, 2 onions, 5 garlic cloves, 7 large mushrooms, 1 green pepper, 1 bay leaf, grated Parmesan cheese, 1 lb. spaghetti and Oliovero Toscani: added oregano, basil, dry thyme and ground pepper to the mix and cooked for about 10 minutes.
Ate this with some mineral water. Tonight we've been invited to our neighbors house for party. Our neighbors are an elderly couple in their mid 50s who party like crazy. They like to throw parties every so often but I've somehow managed to duck every single one except tonight.
I might also start adding pictures to this thread.

Today I made Arabic chicken with cherries and safrol butter; then chased it down with green tea. This weekend I was introduced to this chick (picture below) by a friend. She makes music she says is inspired by crabs and has a strange fascination with 19th Century expeditions to Asia and Africa. She actually dresses like this all the time and trys to maintain a persona like she's a lady from late 19th Century Europe. At first I thought it was all an act when she lifted her hand for me to kiss and commented that I "looked well in my shiny new perverts". She proceeded to play for me "her music": a combination- at first of guitar pick drones that slowly and somewhat annoyingly changes into fuzzy and erratic stringing. She's obviously completely bonkers but a total riot to hang around with.  Supposedly on an expedition in Africa (although I suspect this was taken in Northern California)

After a pretty busy week my schedule is looking a little relaxed over the next couple of days so I have chosen to indulge myself during the most important hour of the day.
I made a large plate of blackened chicken salad with fries topped off with Italian dressing and a side of mixed fruit in a bowl. That's right bitches I'm in it to win it.
It turns out two of the Health care hoes at my girlfriends gym are moving onto greener pastures and Ms. Loop wanted to wish them well, so she had me up at 6am making a Brasilian style guacamole dip I once experimented with.
In other news, my friend Sparky purchased a stack of vinyl being told he was getting a "bulk purchase" discount on his most recent visit to the store. Upon examining his receipt when he arrived at his home, he realized it would have been more affordable to purchase the items on line (with shipping!!!) and have them arrive at his doorstep.

Today Lunch doubled as breakfast (kind of has to when you wake up at noon). It consisted of a few lean strips of bacon (extra crispy, not chewy), an over-easy egg for the girlfriend (not myself because I'm allergic to egg) on a piece of toast with melted chedder perched atop the whole thing, then all of it closed underneath another piece of toast and some spicy potatoes. This was accompanied by a tall glass of Tropicana Grovestand orange juice and white tea.

I'm back to eating again. On Thursday, I only ate salads and drank fresh veggie juices. That first transitional day back to eating is always feel like a newborn foul learning how to walk. Yesterday I was bad and ate salmon cooked in butter and mashed taters. Not sure what I'll eat today. Too damn hot for an appetite. Maybe carpaccio.

One of my friends is visiting from PA. He just had a nasty breakup with his ex which ended up in New Jersey court, so naturally the first thing he wants to do is have angry sex. I've been trying to calm him down, but after a while there is nothing you can do but listen. Add to the weather which was a scorching 92.7°F and his frustrations got worse. For some reason, he preferred to remain outdoors because he wanted to rant and feared my girlfriend would overhear him.
I made him and myself a garden salad with diced radishes, low-fat plain yogurt, 1/2 cup light sour cream, shredded carrot, chopped green onions, fresh parsley, crumbled blue cheese and some freshly ground pepper.
To wash it down we had some cold mineral water, but later he grabbed a beer from the fridge and said "I need a real chaser bitch!" I figure tonight will be a long night.

Today I had Pechuga de Pollo Sudada, chicken breast and potatoes in a tomato and green onion sauce at my friend Franjo's house.
Franjo lives in a house that used to be a casino and for whatever reason, he has left most of the rooms to look like they're still a casino. His wife has also done this thing where each room is supposed to resemble a different place, so they have a Moroccan room, a Colombian room etc.
I find the entire setup to be very bizarre but amusing at the same time. Also, Mr Franjo has a shitload of cars, so when you get to his house, you'll get the impression that there is a party going on, yet once inside, you find that it's just him and his wifey.
We washed down our meal with a couple of brews while Franjo and I chopped it up about the city of Conakry (Franjo wants to live there for a year or two), women 'the scene'.
Tonight I invited Franjo over for dinner and promised to cook Trout Filet with hollandaise sauce and rice.

When the warhead drops, the person will be able to enjoy eating quality french fries!!!

Occasionally when I buy records, I'll find something tucked behind the sleeve, like an old receipt, personal photographs and even, though rarely, money.
Today I found this record which I bought solely for the cover alone. Apprently, somebody thought it was a good idea to have 5 guys going by the name 'The Vibrators' stand around a little girl in an old playground.
This in itself was a good enough find, but when I took the record out is when I got the real surprise. What a day!
For lunch, I ordered a sushi and sashimi combination plate from Katsuya, gave Sparky a ring to discuss tonight's late night plans and started to bump this awesome record on the player. Good good vibrations.

Protein shake: 1 cup green tea, 1.5 scoops milk isolate protien powder, 3 tsp Greens+, 1.5 tbsp ground flax seed, 1 tsp creatine, 1/2 cup low fat vanilla yogurt, 1 cup fresh mixed berries (today was blackberries and cranberries).

Today I wanted to cook and we had some people over so:
for LUNCH I made field green salad beets with hazelnuts and feta plus braised short rib Parmesan dusted polenta, glazed cipollini onions. I also had some creamed spinach for extras.
The rest of the day was pretty mundane. I started watching an 8 hour long film today. You're supposed to watch the entire film in 1 sitting but I only managed one hour before I found myself asleep; not because I was bored, but because it was on an image of two people starring at a wall for more than 4 straight minutes.
