I could wax lyrical about the fact that there is no such organization as al Qaeda, that in fact there are simply many disparate Islamist terrorists worldwide who share similar goals but don't actually have a central 'network' or leaders in charge of them all. Or talk about the fact that the US backed and funded Mujahideen fighters against the Soviets, and then the Northern Alliance who were offered bounties on al Qaeda opperatives in Afghanistan and simply rounded up people they didn't like and offered them up while none of the coalition forces found a single 'al Qaeda' fighter in Afghanistan, but I won't.
