I know they are made in china but does anyone have any experience with Eastland shoes? I recently needed a new pair of shoes and found a pair that seemed to fit all my criteria on JC penny's website but they were a bit on the expensive side(for me at the moment) even after sales/coupons and with shipping costs. I did some price shopping and find the shoes on 6pm.com for half the price everywhere else(before sales/coupons) with free shipping. The first time ever I ordered shoes online without seeing them in person. I never heard of Eastland shoes or 6pm.com before. The shoes are usually 100 to 115 bucks but 6pm.com had them for 51.99 with free shipping. The shoes won't be here till friday or monday.

My daily wear walking shoes have a hole worn through the sole. They lasted over a decade and I paid 30 bucks for them so I can't complain. I'm hoping I can get 2 years out of these new ones. I wear size 13 W or 13 EE.

Have you shopped at 6pm.com before? Personally, I don't trust that site based on the prices I saw when I did a search for Mephisto boots. No one sells Mephisto's marked down by 40-60%. It just doesn't happen. I wouldn't order from that site.

It is probably just a clearance joint. I got a pair of Timberland hiking boots via some Amazon clearance joint for like $35, when the cheapest ya ever see em on sale is $79.99.

They might have a scuff on em or something, but probably nothing worse than you'll put on em the first week ya have em.

When they show up, place them on a flat tabletop and check for curved and warped soles. That's a common defect that gets shoes shipped off to the discounters.
My boot of choice just changed the material used for the soles and there are a ton of the discontinued version at the discount liquidators.

So many shoes use polyurethane soles now and I keep reading about people storing the shoes and hydrolysis taking place from lack of use and the soles disintergrating within an hour after wearing them out of storage. I almost got some Rockports but I didn't like the adidas soles on them and everyone said the quality went way down but the prices stayed way up since adidas took them over.

I don't know why so many companies demolish the quality of product in an effort to cost cut. That is the initial sign of a place that is entering the death spiral.

That's what I was told about the Blundstones I wear. They did away with the poly soles but there are still a ton on the market being blown out.

This happened to a cheap pair of shoes I have. They fell apart completely. Someone told me it was from bugs. Lol.

I keep trying to find a set of these Mephisto boots to replace a pair I've had for over 20 years. They're really comfortable and last practically forever and you can send them back to get them resoled at least one time. I used to wear them basically every single day, no matter what I was wearing. I looked a little ridiculous wearing them with shorts, but I didn't care. They're super expensive, but I'd buy two pairs if I could only find them in a size 13. I think they were discontinued because they were too perfect.

The walking shoes I have that lasted 10 years or more were George Foreman Comfort Zone. I picked them up on sale from a big and tall store. I figured they looked ok and for 30 bucks if I got a year out of them I'd be happy. Comfortable and took a beating. Seven of those years I only wore them after work and on weekends.

The companies sell out and new management runs the brand into the ground cutting corners and selling a shit product off the old reputation.

I was a huge redwings boot fan for almost 20 years. Its hurts to see how redwings are declining in quality and their recent lack of producing large sizes in wide widths. I really like the Iron Rangers and thought they would be a nice casual boot. They don't make them larger than a 12. I was also interested in the Chukkas. Same deal. My mom used to buy me tan chukkas from Thom McAn back in the 70s when I was in elementary school as "play shoes" for after school. I thought it would be fun to own a similar pair again.

I don't mind paying a high price for a good , comfortable and durable shoe. The salesman at DXL looked at me like I was crazy when I told him that for 90 to 100 bucks I expected shoes that would last me 2 years minimum of daily wear. He told me if I wanted that I'd have to buy 2 or 3 pairs and wear them in a rotation.

Damn. I have dress shoes that are 10+ yrs old, but general shoes I get about 2 yrs. That is night and weekend, until they are banged up, then work until the soles are shot.

Boots I get 2 yrs out of also. 1yr working in and wearing around town, then another year untied for the yard and in the shop.

Converse is now making Chucks w insoles. Hella comfortable.

The shoes have arrived. 6pm processed and shipped the order from KY about 16 hours after I made the purchase. The shoes arrived just under 3 days. I've inspected the shoes and can find no cosmetic or manufacturing faults. I put the shoes on and wore them for a little over an hour. They fit incredibly well and are almost too comfortable. I do have complaints with the shoes though and those have nothing to do with 6pm.com and just Eastland's design and materials. The rubber soles are a bit thinner than I expected. The stitching around the sole looks to be mostly for aesthetics. The "reinforced heel" isn't in the actual sole but a part of the insole insert. These would be an outstanding shoe for a cubicle slave. I was hoping for a slightly better made walking shoe.

Conclusion: I had no issues with 6pm.com. I'm quite happy and satisfied with the purchase for the price I paid. Durability will still have to be assessed in the coming weeks. I thought my previous shoes would only last 6 months and they lasted about 10 years so getting 2 years out of these may not be unreasonable. I saved enough that I might look for a real cheap pair of sneakers/walking shoes or something from a thrift store to rotate with these just to be safe. These shoes will also work for job interviews better than sneakers or walking shoes. I still have a pair of redwings work boots that have a year or 18 months of daily use life in them.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from 6pm.com again if I found another good deal there.
