In the film 8MM, there is a scene where Nick Cage asks Max California whether he can take him somewhere he can get snuff films. Max says "There is no such thing" and Nick says, "yeah, but do you know where I can get it?"
The first place he is taken to is Chico Travieso's garage where a large Mexican bull flanked with whores shows him to a table laden with boxes of "illegal" Mexican smut, but when Cage asks whether he has smut the Mexican guy goes crazy- to the point of almost killing him.

This scene always had me confused. Was he really that offended by snuff that he'd kill you if you requested it, or did he just think Cage was a FED who was snooping around looking to bust him for his little porno-ring? I then started to wonder what kinda porn was in those boxes. I mean, what does a guy like this, operating so underground and so fearful of cops consider smut?

South of the Border wants to be that pornography. It wants to so bad, that before it begins, it issues itself about 3 warnings that this is truely the worst of the kind type of pornography, and that if you are offended by serious hardcore torture porn, nows the time to switch of and consider moving to Idaho, buying a farm, settling down with a God fearing wife and raising some stock pups.

The story, which seems to be very paramount in this series, goes a little something like this: somewhere in the Messican border (actually they give you an exact location but I can't be arsed to go find it again), lots of American women are disappearing. Whats worse is that these females are being raped, tortured, electrocuted, beaten and pumped full of smack by the Messican bastards operating some heroin, cocaine cartel. Animals!!!

The bureau sends in some female agent (whose actually very HOT. Someone get me a name check please). She's given a serious cavity search by some fat sweaty guy, tortured, electrocuted and raped, before she escapes. To be continued...

Unfortunately, this pornography fails at creating the tense atmosphere it hoped to. Imagine your everyday pornography to be an A-list movie. This is the B-version of it. It's like Harry Novak trying to make an American version of Battle Royale.

ZFX Productions seems to be chucking out a lot of these b-grade attempts at torture porn, and I doubt their getting anything right- but I suppose thats what you get when you hire piss drinking Rick Masters to helm your production. Someone give me a name check on the chick with the glasses and frilly hair and lets call it a wrap.
