I receive many unplayable review copies, generally because the DVD was never on or came detached from its spindle, causing the disc to scratch constantly against it while making its way across the country in a box.
They'll be a thing of the past soon enough. Thank god videotape is gone, mostly because of the space it took up. And the rewinding. And the quality.
I still sorta miss LPs. Mostly because of the size of the cover art and the conscious decision you used to have to make to listen to something. In addition to getting up off your ass to flip it over. And they wonder why everyone is so goddamned fat.
I also miss mimeographs. And having my typewriter ribbon run out. And having a teletype number. And shouting for the operator into my candlestick telephone.
