Porn is fun to watch...  Hardcore is fun to listen to...  The two together are horrible. As an example, try masturbating to one of the shitty alt.porn titles like Little Runaway, where the soundtrack, nice as it is, is louder than a Dead Kennedys show. Jello Biafra is great... but not while I'm rubbing one out.

I respect everyones view on how they represent their respective "scenes" or tastes...Im not saying the west had nothing to offer as far as punk/hardcore...I guess I just prefer the more brutal stuff from the east...I always thought of the west as the thrash metal kingdom and the east as the hardcore kingdom...I love alot of bands from both coasts.........yo, and Chico...what about Laaz Rockit and Uncle Slam???

I saw Bad Brains back in '89 on the Quickness tour at the old "'New Ritz" in Manhattan and it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen in my entire life! HR came out with a bugle in one hand and a bible in the other and went crazy. The band was super tight and loud and played every good song from all their albums. I recall that Ric Ocasek was there, along with his wife, Billy Milano from M.O.D. and some others.

Both are excelent bands. I couldve also included Suicidal Tendencies (both the punk/thrash version), D.R.I and newer bands like Machine Head and Dreams of Damnation. We all have excellent taste in music. Every region spawned a genre of styles that sprung up everywhere. I also like death metal. 
Shit...I just get down to TSOL's "Code Blue" and you drop this sheiite.

I know you aren't asking me, but I saw just about every local hardcore band playing in the New York area in the late 80's and early 90's multiple times- incl. Agnostic Front, The Cro-Mags, Sick Of It All, Token Entry, Underdog, The Crumbsuckers, Ludichrist (who later became Scatterbrain)- and all my favorites on tour from the West Coast, incl. Suicidal Tendencies, The Circle Jerks, Gorilla Biscuit, and my all time favorite band still playing to this day who I have seen play live at least twenty times- Bad Religion!

No, it's cool I just wanted to see what people who shared my taste in music were listening to. You and I share almost all those common groups. I bet we were at some of those shows at the same time. Did you ever see the group Breakdown or what they became ( partly) Raw Deal and the group called Uppercut- a couple of pals from college were in those bands.

the Cro-Mags are my absolute faves. nothing touches "Age of Quarrel"...I really dig AF,SOIA,Sheer Terror,Token Entry,Raw Deal/Killing Time,Breakdown,Biohazard,Madball,Carnivore,AOD,Gorilla Biscuits,Krakdown,Maximum Penalty,Outburst...you get the picture...I also really like alot of the newer bands as well...I flew out for the Superbowl of Hardcore last March,Madball and SOIA headlined...great show!!!
although not east coast, I love Negative Approach,Cold as Life and the whole Detroit scene in general
the West has/had some great bands too...Suicidal,DRI,Circle Jerks,Bad Religion,Verbal Abuse, and plenty more...and not to mention all that ripping thrash metal
glad to see that there are some people on here with similar tastes...
