The sheriff has already said he's not interested in pursuing it. It's the DA wanting to get the money.
It will cost the sheriff money to pursue this, not really the DA, so I wonder if the DA will get a lot of help from the sheriff unless the DA promises money recovered to the sheriff's department, which takes the incentive away from the DA...
This probably doesn't go anywhere unless there's something else in her background, or she tried to deceive police. She's not married and so they can't go after his money, and she's too old for them to go after her family's money. The sheriff likely has more important crime issues to deal with...
