Why?

Runaway bride just left, and they started searching. She didn't ask anyone to search for her. She didn't lie to the police until after the search had been started and was well underway. She actually stopped the searcch with her phone call. She should be awarded the money that they would have spent had she not called. I'm joking, or course, but the poitn is obvious.

Is it illegal to skip town? They still would have searched for her, whether she made that dumbass phone call at the end or not.

Granted, she is in the wrong. Under no circumstances should this guy even consider marrying her. She might get confused about whether she still wants her future kids, someday. She is selfish, flaky, and at the risk of being psychoanalyzed(), a bitch.
