I got this http://www.setgo.com

I spoke to the owner, Bernie aka Dig420 aka webmaster@setgo.com, Monday morning.

DUC: "When did you first get setgo.com?"

Bernie: "In 1999. I bought it for $3,000 from John Allbright aka GogoBar in the chatrooms along with some other domains."

DUC: "What did you do with it?"

Bernie: "I made a resource site out of it. At that time, there weren't five million resource sites like there are now. There was Netpond, YNOT, Pornresource. and Topniche.com."

DUC: "You've wanted to sell the site for a while?"

Bernie: "Ever since I realized how difficult it was to make a resource site profitable. I've got too many other things going on. Every bit of staff time and intellectual energy that goes to setgo is taken away from something else that makes more money."

DUC: "Are there any resource sites that are ale
by D.U.C. (send email to D.U.C.) making money?"

Bernie: "Sure. Most of them where the owner doesn't also have a referrer program."

DUC: "Which resource site do you think is the most profitable?"

Bernie: "Oprano because of Serge. GFY might be, but it is not a resource site. It's a posting board. Lensman has a smart-ass domain name that appeals to these young goof webmasters. You can't get any better than that. It takes no maintenance."

DUC: "Has it cost you business over the past year to own setgo while it's been controversial?"

Bernie: "I caught some heat for it. Most of the time, I would look at the article and say, 'Is there anything gratuitously evil in this?' Most of the time, no. If what you publish is correct, like this thing with YNOT. They were wrong to ask us to take it down. So I sent them an email back, saying, 'F--- you.'"

DUC: "What's your main business?"

Bernie: "Fetishbucks.com. It's a webmaster referral program."

DUC: "How is it any different from a thousand other webmaster referral programs?"

Bernie: "It's been around longer. It's got more and better sites. Many webmaster referral programs don't even aim for retention any more. Their real money comes from spamming, bulk email. The webmaster referral program is just a cover. We're a real webmaster referral program. Every site has a shit load of content. We try to keep members, convert members, and everybody gets paid."

DUC: "When you mention that every site has a 'shit load' of content, does that mean you have scat sites?"

Bernie: "No. I have scat domains if anybody wants to buy them, but I've never done anything with them."

DUC: "Which ones do you have?"

Bernie: "Shitgames.com. Do you remember when you couldn't get the seven dirty words as domain names? Like fuck.com. As soon as they became legal, I tried to snatch up all the domain names. A lot of people had scripts written so that as soon as the domains became available, they'd start hammering them to register the forbidden words. I went in to get mine and the best I could get were the shit domains. I got 'em."

DUC: "And no one has been banging down your door to try to buy them?"

Bernie: "No. I thought some asians would try to buy them up."

DUC: "Do you have a series of paysites for Fetishbucks?"

Bernie: "We have over 20 paysites and about 14 are on Fetishbucks.com. DarkCavern.com, which is not on Fetishbucks, is one of our biggest moneymakers."

DUC: "Is there a theme to your paysites? Fetishbucks connotes fetishes."

Bernie: "At one time, most people weren't hitting fetishes. It was all teen sites and beautiful girl sites. We were one of the first ones to try to break things down by niche, by people's particular fetishes."

DUC: "Now, Darkcavern.com is an interracial site. Don't you find something offensive about black men ploughing white women?"

Bernie: "No, I don't care. What people want to do behind closed-doors doesn't affect me. As far as DarkCavern, I'm more interested in the money."

DUC: "Why did you keep redesigning setgo?"

Bernie: "I was hoping to find a way to make it so attractive that people would just click on the link to advertise. But it doesn't work that way. Selling ad space is like selling used cars. You've got to go out and pressure people. You've got to go to conventions and get commitments and slap people on the back and party and hang out. That's not for me and I couldn't find anybody who enjoyed doing that.

"It's not a matter that it is impossible to sell ads. It's that I am not willing to do the things necessary to get it done."

DUC: "Why would anyone want to buy setgo.com?"

Bernie: "If you go to Alexa.com, you'll see that setgo.com gets more traffic than almost all webmaster resource sites. Setgo has 994 cross-links according to Alexa. It's a good vehicle to be seen by webmasters.

"I was depressed the other day when Topbucks went around buying space on webmaster resource sites and skipped setgo.

"I don't hang out with the porn crowd. The only people I talk to are the people I have to talk to. I don't go to wild parties. I don't even drink. I have no interest in these people. All I want to do is make money and live my life."

Alexa rankings:

Gofuckyourself.com: 838
YNOTmasters.com: 5,974
Setgo.com: 11,863
Oprano.com: 14,027
Netpond.com: 17,425
Pornresource.com: 40,376

note to LB: better go tell them how bad alexa is and that nobody uses it as a resource. By the way lead writer for Newsweek(little known mag, and respected world-wide) uses it as a resource.
