Most do. I bought a Sony over fours years ago, and it will play audio (mp3) CDs and VCDs (MPEG1). However, it can't properly decode MPEG2/SVCD so I'm screwed. Also, ensure the one your purchase has progressive scan and can play MPEG4 SVCDs
