i don't think the italians are looking at a bright future, they've got their hands in a lot but the feds know who's who and coordinating with the cops in italy forever. the problem is they're down in numbers and up in years-you've got active bosses in their 70's and you never see someone under 40 get arrested. the us and italy are rich and it's hard to find people willing to shoot someone in the back of the head for a grand here. they're basically middlemen at this point, the mexicans and colombians have the drug pipeline and the ruskies are in everything and are totally global and so deeply interwoven in government and industries they're harder to figure out. we've got decades on the guidos and we know so little about the russians and albanians we let major players into the country thinking they're civilians.

the albanians are fucking nuts, and the italians have been using them but they're just too hungry and vicious to stay that way. the russians and drug-lords have more guns and less value of life and the russians control banking and nukes there.

my guess is that the italians keep trying to legitamize, otherwise they're going to be in trouble.
