I think you are all being cruel. I think the punishment should fit the crime.
I would lock him in a sensory depravation chamber for the rest of his life. twenty years without light, sound, no change in temperature, fed through an IV, waste carried out automatically.
No appeals because only death penalty cases get endless appeals. This is as close to justice as is possible for this man.
Before you say that this is not justice I want you to think about this:
Every day being an endless blackness devoid of sensations or human contact. Not even the sound of an insect flying by to think about. I'm sure you will say: so what I could do this for a day or week.
Now picture this every day until you die. Remember it's not the heat in hell that we fear. It's the lack of hope that things will get any better.

Child molesters and killers don't fair well in prison. There's likely to be a Jeffrey Dahmer solution waiting for him in prison, after the HIV+ prisoners get to release some sexual tension (aggression?)...

You guys just don't get it. Lucite is the way to go. Seal him up in a lucite block watch him suffocate to death then put him on permanent public display with a little sign saying what he did. If you wanted to something even more cool you remove his skin and use a plastination process then put him on display. So many good new technologies to punish offenders and none of it is implemented.

Prison guards know how to solve this kind of problem.
In Jeffrey Dahmer's case the guards paired him with a big black psychopathic guy who had been abused as a kid (a lot of Dahmer's victims were black). Guess what happened when the guards left those two alone for 10 minutes?
