True. Anabolic needs some top-shelf directors after the exodus so this is a good match. But:

He's saying that while there is a possibility Mason may get to do some “creative releases”, that's not the point and probably not gonna happen?

So just what DOES Anabolic have in mind? Un-creative releases? Cookie-cutter extension of existing checklist-driven series?

This isn't what you hire Mason for. She's not the one if your focus is quantity over quality. This may just be Anabolic trying to keep her focused on the need to get more than one release a year, but to explicitly state that "creative releases” is not important and not a likelihood is ... hard to understand.
