Some interesting comments were made in the first round; I'd like to take it to the next level.
One observation: some people can make some money, doing gonzo. But every new gonzo video has to compete against another couple of hundred more gonzo videos, every week. By contrast, a new line of videos which makes it a point to rise to a level of genuine intelligence wouldn't have much competition.
Second: before anyone dismisses "niche marketing", make sure you understand it. Simple example: the guy who created "Black Entertainment Television" is now worth over a billion dollars. Every other cable producer let him have that niche, to himself, because they knew lots of demographic & economic reasons why it wouldn't work. But it did, because he made it work, and he's now a billionaire. Check it out, if you doubt it.
Third: a simple, basic, essentially zero-added-cost premise and script, for a genuinely intelligent video about sex, could easily be developed, by the producers, directors, actors, actresses, and cameramen, by simply having some discussions about a simple premise. Suppose a guy moves to a new city, such as Los Angeles. Maybe he's fresh out of college, maybe he's divorced, whatever. He simply starts looking for ways to meet some ladies. Ask everyone on the set, what would be the best way for a guy, new to a city, to actually meet ladies, and start dating them? Nearly everyone will have at least one good idea and/or story. Then just go from there. Show the guy meeting 2, or 3, or even 4 or 5 ladies, all eager to settle down with a nice, sincere, intelligent guy who has good earning potential. It would be an easy concept, with no extra cost for a good script.
And finally: no matter what you think of them, no matter what social or economic or intelligence strata people are in, they can often surprise you, if they're given a true and good challenge and opportunity to do better. So, instead of deliberately degrading people, calling them stupid whores and that kind of stuff, give them a chance, and see what they can actually do.
That really wouldn't be so hard to do. And, it might lead to some interesting results.
