Jesus. We are an angry lot. This makes me think of a story that I am going to share. Once upon a time there lived a boy named Nate. Nate was Swiss (where the best chocolate comes from) Nate was given a lever that if switched the entire world would, in a second, explode. Nate takes the lever home and sets it on his dresser and falls asleep. Then along comes an evil Pagan and he grabs the lever off the dresser and takes off with it. Nate wakes up and spots the evil pagan running off with the lever. He at once follows in haste. The evil pagan notices Nate is catching up with him and in fear of a savage beating drops the lever in the street to make a clean get away. At this moment in time, Nate has a huge problem because a car with old lady behind the wheel, is headed for the lever. He must act fast. so he throws his body between the car and the lever stopping the car and in turn crushing every bone in his body. Later that night Nate dies on the way to St. Peters Hospital........ The Moral? BETTER NATE THAN LEVER! Get it? better Nate than lever! I love that one. This had nothing to do with anything I just like telling that story. I will say this I have met Courtney for a second when she shot here at the meatholes factory for someone else. She could melt a cheese sandwich from across the room she is so hot.

i think a lot of systems weight a 4.0 as an A 3.0 as B.....so someone could swing a 4.3. strangely, most places go by .3 instead of thirds.
jrv, i'm not sure what age you are, but I saw something saying ernest greene got a score that didn't end in a zero and maybe you're his contemporary, give or take a decade. do you have any idea if the test was ever scored to allow anything other than multiples of ten? it was in a "bow to my greatness while i give proof i'm smart but didn't attend college" statement, somewhere in luke's archives.
the odd thing was that i'm fairly sure it wasn't a number that has a correlating keystroke anywhere near to 0, so it would seem to rule out typos. i'd love to catch that guy lying

Yes, but no final course grade in is ever higher than 4.0.

I think some schools did allow course grades to be reported with a fractional part (era: 1980). But I can't remember any specifics on this any more.
If you've been out of college for more than a couple of years and don't have any other accomplishments you care to brag about ... that just about answers the question, doesn't it?
To put it another way: when I interviewed engineers / made hiring decisions I made a firm policy of never looking back more than five years at the college stuff, not the grades nor the school. If they couldn't justify themselves on their work record at that point they wouldn't any time soon (thinking about it now I can't recall grades ever coming up in an interview, even for a college hire, although Personnel presumably filtered out the real dogs).

I did interviews at a lab bench with a logic analyzer, oscilloscope and various meters, PCBs that didn't work, soldiering iron to fix them, source code to buggy firmware w/ build tools to test fixes, incomplete algorithms on a whiteboard... It was like a surprise final exam, except that the victim had a paycheck riding on it.

Every year before recruiting season I sat down and told the people going on campus visits what to look for, mainly people who had actually built something, however minor, they could show and talk about. I wasn't interested in a robo-grad – someone whose only apparent interest in the field appeared to be coursework.
