I appreciate your response. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person wondering about this. I've done my own questioning as well, and apparently the consensus is "to express individuality"...which is of course, given the context, a completely silly notion.

The majority of us have a desire to see the female body naked, because we most likely admire the way it was designed and realized. The variation of curves, colors, space...every female has these elements in some form, and there is an inherent beauty in that form. Putting lifestyle implications aside, I find that placing a tattoo on the body destroys the element flow that creates what we tend to recognize as beauty. It's like letting a cartoonist scrawl on top of "The Last Supper". His Mickey Mouse might look cute on paper, but in the context of a Michelangelo painting, it proves to be nothing more than a blight.
