I will try to answer this question on tattoos because I have often wonder the same thing - branding and indication of being loose.
Talking with several gals regarding their tattoos; I come to the conclusion that overtly it is a sign of independent expression of their personalities. But reading between the lines and taking into consideration their morals and other personal attributes like how they behave and other personal attributes; I concluded that they represent covertly - a loose lady that can be had if you really try hard to pursue her? maybe. Or a need to convey this outworldly maybe?
I really don't have a clue why a beautiful lady would like to place a 6" or 10" tattoo across her lower back? Maybe because they think it looks cool and sexy????? Gets guys to notice her without her doing anything????? Says to the guys; "ha! I easy! come and try to get me????? I know when I see one on a beautiful lady; it does add to the sexual heat/desire but also kind of cheapens the lady in general. It said to me; I am going after you because you are easy? but you are not marriage matter maybe??? subconconiously.
In the final analysis; I really don't know the answer other then gal thinks it looks cool and gives them a "naughty"/"bad girl" image. Most guys like because it makes them look more slutty and thus more approachable?
It could be that she also wants to be a biker chick!

I appreciate your response. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person wondering about this. I've done my own questioning as well, and apparently the consensus is "to express individuality"...which is of course, given the context, a completely silly notion.
The majority of us have a desire to see the female body naked, because we most likely admire the way it was designed and realized. The variation of curves, colors, space...every female has these elements in some form, and there is an inherent beauty in that form. Putting lifestyle implications aside, I find that placing a tattoo on the body destroys the element flow that creates what we tend to recognize as beauty. It's like letting a cartoonist scrawl on top of "The Last Supper". His Mickey Mouse might look cute on paper, but in the context of a Michelangelo painting, it proves to be nothing more than a blight.

To be honest... the reason I got mine was because I love art. I had found a sticker when I was 17 and I swore that I was going to get it tatooed on me when I turned 18. I did just that. It's not just porn girls that have a tat in that area... I swear like 90% of girls who have tats get it there. For me it was an expression of my personality yes. The tribal part if it is the fun, wild, crazy side of me... and the butterfly represents the sweet side. Notice there's more tribal tho

I don't mind chicks with small tats. As long as it doesn't cover a large portion of their body.
But it seems like some of these porn chicks try on purpose to make themselves look ugly. Look at Janine Lindemulder for instance. She used to be one of the hottest looking chicks ever and then she ruined herself with those fuckin' tats covering her arm.  Now she looks like a fucking longshoreman. What a dumbass!

i used to terrorize llamas at this yuppie-farmstand my parents used to spend an unnacceptably-long period of time for little kids to wait. i'm guessing they viewed strange peruvian horse-monsters as free babysitting.
anyhow, one day the llamas took a stand by SPITTING at me. they missed, but those things are the peter norths of the animal-kingdom, they can fucking launch phlegm like 20feet.
my guess is they started out as camels but touched brazilian soil and became horribly-perverted from their original form.

as for philosophy, anything that resembles metaphysics in its current state drives me bananas. it's almost like that branch decided to make a wholesale shift of focus away from asking the important questions and are just into straightup-sophistry-in-hopes=of-tenure. obviously the l-p's like whitehead and russell weren't right, but the fact is the shit that derrida couldn't do and didn't pay attention to is evolving. as long as people figure out a fermat's/decade you're getting closer to an answer and the boring, non-french guys like putnam, dennet, even kripke are actually still trying.
