He was on the phone with his wife. He was asking her to come home to help him with his upcoming ESPN article. At one point he asked her to hold on a sec, and put the phone down, and shot himself. She didn't even know it had happened at the time. He did it with his son, daughter in law, and 6 yr old grandson in the house with him.

Edit: I'm not saying it wasn't suicide. It surely was. I'm saying he was a creep. I know that's not very chic to say, and I've done my share of admiring his writing and penchant for self indulgence. But there is a point when it's not cool anymore.
