I was going to mention this in the dvd thread, but it seemed a bit off topic, so I'll just make this thread.

I had the flu all week, so I finally had time to devote to playing and finishing Xenosaga 2. If anyone is interested in a rundown of the different aspects of that game, let me know as that's a whole thread in itself.

Well, I thought maybe someone might help me here. I'm trying to decide on what to play next. It's between:

Star Ocean 3: 'Till the end of time.

Shadow Hearts 1, which would have to immediately be followed by Shadow Hearts:Covenant. That would put everything else one step back.

Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne.

Or,

Xenogears. Although, at first look, it seems kind of boring. At least at the beginning, anyway. Lackluster graphics. It's an older PS1 rpg.

Well, anybody have any other suggestions or comments? I'm partial to rpg's, but any game is fair, uh, game.

My favorite rpgs for the ps2 are Balder's Gate 2, champions of norrath and champions of norrath 2- return to arms. They are not too complex and you actually do the fighting in them.

Well, yep, see, I prefer turn based. That's why I haven't played those, and it's why I put off Star Ocean for so long.

And for anyone who thinks turn based isn't challenging or doesn't require skill. Try Xenosaga 2, and then let me know when you get owned before you ever get to a boss.

Seriously, have you played any of the XS series, Cleet? The first one has many cutscenes, but the story is good. There is also plenty of gameplay to make up for it. Some think the extensive cutscenes are a detraction. I think they are a plus. It's great to be playing along, kicking ass, and then get a break for a few minutes to watch the kick ass story progress even more.

Anyway, check it out.

BTW, Star Ocean 3 is boring me to tears.

And Mandy said she is addicted to rpgs, so if you read this Mandy, weigh in. I got the impression you were pretty much an Everquest junky, though. I've never played that, but I'm meaning to.

I actually have XS- der willie macht or whatever it is called for the ps2 sitting on my shelf unopened - I just haven't got around to playing it yet. I go in spurts- for weeks I'm a gamer, then for weeks I read books and then movies ,computer games ( my present spell- playing the hell out of Age of Empires 2). I 'll have to whip out xs and give it a try.

PS. Toe do you have cable tv? There is a whole channel G4-Tech tv devoted to games, they review a lot and show what they play like. There are also a few hot chicks as hosts

Well, I only started watching about 5 months ago but I know all about how the people were pissed at all the changes. I have nothing to compare it to but I like to leave the channel on as backgroud noice while I read or am on the computer. Kevin rose is cool because he just doesn't seem to care about anything

Well, I purposefully do not have cable. Because when I do, I spend way TOO MUCH time watching mind numbing soul sucking pop cultural representations. I do miss CSPAN 1 and 2 and some of the learning channels like history.

I read alot, and now that I have a PS2, I play a lot of games. I also rent movies. I just find that the difference not having cable makes in my quality of free time is vast. It's not some elitist stance against TV. It's just that I have no self control.

I would enjoy seeing that show, though Cleet. You should tape some episodes and send them to me.

I can understand your opinion of rpg's Jeff. Some of them bore the shit out of me, like Star Ocean 3:TOT. Different tastes.

I just started playing Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne last night. It is mega fucking weird. The main character you play is a demon. It has a lot of occult influences.

Mr. T, I like that. I also recently picked up Suikoden IV but have not played it yet either- although I tried the demo in the store and loved it. If you rent games you might want to give it a try- and don't forget you can get a better feel for these games at www.gamefaqs.com
