I'd launch more threads here, but as a stated in another thread, I'm no good at actually starting them. The ones I do start seem to go over like a lead balloon, and rightfully so.
It is kind of a shame that the once mighty Monkey Cage now has one foot in the grave. But the thing is, Monkey was really that good. Love him or hate him, he was as entertaining as a retarded juggler. Filling his shoes would be damn hard.
When Monkey split, I thought the Gods here put out an APB for a suitable replacement, which is where I thought Very Handy came in. Clearly that wasn't the case.
I do hope someone comes along that can re-energize this board with the same demented enthusiasm that Monkey had.
P.S. While I'm here, can someone shed light on where the Monkey originated? Was he a poster that eventually got his own forum or just some one Jeff or Tony knew would be a good addition? Is he involved in the porn industry or someone who knows people within it?

I know, some of my early Cage posts fell flat and it's hard to compare to the monkey, but you still gotta try.
Historically speaking, when monkey first came here he rocked the boat and got banned once or twice, but he kept coming back. It seemed like he was out to sabotage the board, but once I realized his insidious posts were challenging the status quo in a way and the fact I hate Fayner and Wankus I thought it'd be best to support smelly monkey as the perfect weapon against these idiots. I'd be shocked if he didn't return to save the Cage from apathy.... until then I'll give it my best shot.

our fearless leader first appeared when fayner took over lukeford, harassing skeeter and fayner to the point fayner shut down the "comments" section altogether. he showed up here, claiming to own "smelly monkey productions" and got avn and gene ross to believe that marc wallice had died, drove several regulars to high-profile meltdowns and the rest is history....
i won't get into more of the conversation than this, but as of a day ago he's not coming back.

There really isn't any other forum Monkey can go to and get the same support & freedom he can get here. On the other hand he may have simply burned out on cyberspace altogether and not be looking for anywhere to go. I have no clue what was going except that it had been building for a while and had nothing to do with XXXPT.
I'm a little surprised at how quickly and easily several people capitulated this time. When last Monkey was banned these people stepped up to fill the void but this time they've given up without a fight.
(and the inevitable question - which of the departed are Monkey pseudonyms?)

killtt/lurid/etc didn't seem like the monkey to me either
I thought monkey was just building JG up for a put down anyway.
I believe that smartt was too busy with his duties to the South American version of NAMBLA or SAMBLA to be posting very much at all.
As for monstar, what do you expect from california?

killttboy and monkey both had one idiosyncratic way of misspelling certain words. If a short root vowel occured between two consonants, and the latter consonant was followed by a vowel, monkey tended to double the latter consonant. Eg, he spelled "malice" "mallice". "Satire" "sattire", etc. I came across a few examples like this though I can't remember them now.

Monkey sometimes used a few British spellings also, i.e. "colour" instead of "color". People who grow up in the US almost never do this. But he usually didn't do it, nor did he use any British syntax such as some uses of "got" etc.
