It's extremely rare for a rape victim/accuser to go public. It's possible that she never would have done so except that the grossly incompetent trial judge completely lost control of his court and repeatedly released confidential information (which was illegal - he could have been disciplined for breaking the law here).

Colorado is rewriting their rape shield law due to the fiasco.

As for whether Kobe was guilty or not - I don't think we'll ever know. I was hoping to see the "immediate outcry" witness testimony and the report on her medical examination.
