When we lived in New Mexico, my wife's first job was a LPN at a nursing home @ $8 an hour (about 8 years ago). MA's didn't exist in that part of the state, and those duties that you mentioned were performed by CNAs who were paid minimum wage without any benefits. Matter of a fact, only the RNs (two maximum) and management pukes received benefits.
