LA's not cheap-housing's not as bad as boston, sf and manhattan but you need a car. so she's making about 40-50k in places with a lower COLAs like idaho or something. a skilled crane operator who's qualified to unload cargo from boats can easily do double that. 50k should be attainable for most people with decent vocational training by the peak of their career assuming they don't start their own crew.

the thing is--for a relative celebrity to the point complete strangers buy her watches---that's a terrible salary. a secondary character on "xena, warrior princess" would quit if they offered it to her.
