i think i touched on this before, but there's pretty much a consensus that neitzche misunderstood a lot of arty, so you might have ended up with something fairly far away from a transparent look at what he was about.
i'm kinda more awestruck by the guys who could handle the less-sexy stuff with numbers than the existentialists. mainly because i think any very smart person who can write with capital letters and project a brooding and deep aura could come up with a rough approximation/knockoff of what the hegel-heideigger school would write. aristotle-frege-wittgenstein were such universal geniuses that they were just able to include another huge part of the equation into their shite . i think it ends up showing in whether they end up a part of the history of philosophy or whether their concepts end up fairly immortal as a building block of later stuff. the logicians might be lacking romantically, but they 're less vulnerable to the misunderstandings of their times. or i'm full of shit, either way the current guys working on consciousness on the nuerobilogical angle and the linguistics guys seem closest to not setting off my bullshit-meter. i think i'm the only 25-year old who can actually say something about the book that made chomsky famous.
related to the post's title what scares me is i have to go interact with the real world and remember what's normal behavior for socializing now. i think i'll have to get really fucked up in the hopes that something will purge all of my short-term memories.
