David Fincher is definately someone who understands classical film language (you just have to watch Fight Club to understand what am saying..its full of classical language).
Sometimes, however, I think we overlook who really is making the film. Is it the director, or the cinematographer?
If it wasn't for the martial arts rip-offs and the constant references to Lone Wolf & Cub and Fist of the North Star, Kill Bill might as well be a Richard Robinson film than a Tarantino flick, just as Pulp Fiction could be credited to Di Leo than Tarantino.
Also, I much prefer Alastair Reid's version of Traffik than Soderbergh's washed up hand me down version.
