Hampshire of course went to jail for a year and paid something like a cool $1 million in fines. I read parts of the case out of curiosity a few years ago, when the Ashcroft hysteria was at its peak, and it was pretty clear that he did this, at least in part, to protect other people who worked for him. In that situation, dunno what I'd do, but I think that's the definition of "falling on your sword." Pretty shitty to call the old guy out like that.
