when you live in the world of porn its understandable to have pedestrian taste. It makes sense to become comfortable with myopic ideas and limited tastes. We however at Vertigo came from the world outside of adult and with it brought photographers that shoot for magazines other than FUCK MY PUSSY BANG MY ASS so it sometimes is lost on porno sensibility. I think Ivor has a point. That box cover doesn't sell itself. A lot of people don't like the boob-job look so I'd go for something neutral and not emphasize the silicone.

Likewise her look appears "drugged-out" to me which is not necessarily what everyone wants to see (I'm not saying she is drugged out but rather that's the first thing I think when seeing that sort of picture).

Finally it's not clear from the box what the theme is. In a video rental store a customer is going to spend less than one second on your box in a poorly lit porn store, probably squinting to see something on a floor-level rack, and there will be hundreds of other boxes to scan while looking for something interesting. You don't get much time to make an impression.

you can slap a eugene atget on the box and it won't sell. people want a big picture of teagan without strange makeup and effects. if the girls don't look what the consumer looking for that girl remembers they look like they're not going to stop. cast lists should be on the front cover and emphasized, nothing too busy and distracting.

btw, when putting on airs of superiority, it helps to avoid saying things like "try less harder".

Wow....This is horrifying. It never occurred to me that Trinity wearing lingerie and naming the title STOCKING STUFFERS might actually trick the consumer into thinking its anything else but a..... ummmm hmmmmm a lingerie line. I guess Ariana's ass on F To The A is another camouflage in the world of battle weary customers looking for an anal line. I think if we take your keen and well thought out advice we might not only get a personal invite into the world of porno status quo but we might be able to reverse our sales numbers and be the first company to go backwards. it's disdain. generally, adult marketing is done by hacks and third-rate people and third-rate agencies. no company listed on a major exchange constantly sends out press-releases that haven't even been spellchecked. while the photo on that cover is professional and makes the girl look attractive, it's more artistic than it should be. she doesn't look human, add clothes and it could pass as a ad for cologne in a magazine.

ivor, i'm not sure i did a great job at explaining myself but you don't have to disagree with me. i just did a lousy job of trying to write very close to what you did--i do think you can tell she's not ugly, but it's almost like a runway model/fashion photographer deal not someone you'd actuially want to fuck. you look at a jil sander ad and know the model isn't hideous but there's too much makeup and stylization and the high-cheekbones/kate-moss deal borders on freaky when looked at closely. you don't want to give a photographer a cracked-out chick and artistic license. ever.

I've seen that Vanilla Sky in a few vids. She's got a lot stroke value. You should have put her on the cover.
