Katie June was great in a couple of scenes I saw back when. She was supposed to be some kind of mad vixen in Nashville, where she beat guys up t her strip club. Canadians! They live to make docs exposing American wrongness. It's their religion. It is!

Our religion? We aren't a particularly religious nation that I know of, and if the statistics say we are, then, well, I haven't actually met these people. We, like the rest of the western world, seem to be moving away from primitive ideology such as religion. In fact, Canada is becoming much more liberal in our laws - which I'm sure angers those religious hypocrites who say they are about love and acceptance, but have no real understanding of those words.

Gay marriage is legal. Pot WILL be legal (even our Premier jokes about using it), and our obscenity laws are continuing to grow more lax. Fisting is legal, at least in Ontario.

The only true religion we have in this country is hockey.

They are state funded. If it wasn't for comics and folksigers and documentarians and moose, Canada would not exist. OK< all that and Brandon.

As for the government funding of the arts, I totally agree with you. With the exception of maybe Atom Egoyan most of the films that get funded are dreck. It seems funding is based on how artsy-fartsy the film is going to be, and so many of the people in film school in Canada are these annoying rich kids looking for a pass through life. When they get out, they apply for funding, and strangely, usually get it. Then they produce horrible dreck that is mostly out of touch with the general public - see the CBC. Every once in awhile something original comes along like the Trailer Park Boys - produced, of course, by a bunch of guys with a video camera and a couple thousand bucks in their pocket.

As for Brandon, Peter, Vodoo, Vince and too many more to mention, yes, we produce a lot of the better male porn stars, sadly, our female talent is lacking however.
