UPDATE:
After getting conflicting reports on Gia Paloma's status from the people at Anabolic, Lance Alot came through with the truth, just as he did earlier in the day. He said, again, that Gia was in makeup and would be down in 10 minutes. And she was, right at 4:45, 15 minutes before the show ended for the day. She wasn't 100%, but she immediately drew a big crowd and posed for fan photos for about 15 minutes. Then it was lights out and yours truly and Anabolic's Saki Bomb walked her to dinner. Gia's first post-OD interview coming soon. Let's just hope the recorder worked. No matter what, Gia is fine. And it was a cocaine OD. More coming soon....

ORIGINAL STORY:
Best New Starlet nominee Gia Paloma overdosed at the Venetian's popular Circle Bar Friday night sometime between 10 and 11. The hard-working sexpot, who is also nominated for Best Actress for her work in Wild Things on the Run (Coast To Coast Video); one of her many starring roles, Gia Has a Negro Problem, (LéWood Productions/JM Productions) is up for Best Interracial Release; and Best All-Girl Sex Scene – Video for The Violation of Audrey Hollander (JM Productions; which also stars in the scene were Audrey Hollander, Ashley Blue, Tyla Wynn, Brodi & Kelly Kline). She has been one of the hardest working stars in the business since she ditched her job at Starbucks and ditched her clothes for a life in porno in October of 2003, turning in hundreds of scenes. Last month she even made her directorial debut.

People who witnessed the overdose said that Paloma was reportedly having a hard time walking and standing (suspected and in no way confirmed is that she was taking Ketamine hydrochloride, an animal tranquilizer more popularly known as "Special K"). At one point she fell against (JM Productions owner) Jeff Steward, then onto the floor, completely unconscious. Both Steward and his wife, Sandy, said that Gia looked like she was going to die. No awareness, no ability to speak and probably no memory of the event. Paramedics were called and Paloma was carried through the Venetian on a stretcher.

As of 1:30 this afternoon, sources at Anabolic (where Paloma is signing) confirmed the OD and said she was out of the hospital and in makeup, expected to be back on the floor signing in 30-45 minutes. When JM's Steward was told that she was not only out of the hospital, but would soon be back at the Anabolic booth signing, he shook his head and said, "Now THAT'S a real rock star."

Paloma, who is considered one of the top contenders for Best New Starlet award, has been taking on more work as a makeup artist and last month directed her first video for Corey Jordan's No Boundaries and performing in fewer scenes.

Paloma was unavailable for comment (because she was getting her makeup done for the show floor.

Attending the AEE can be a real eye opener for porn fans and people in general. In discussions I had with CES colleagues, friends and aquaintances over the weekend, many of them made a comment that I realized several years ago....when you meet them in real life, up close, Porn Chicks are for the most part average in appearance (some slightly above average, some slightly below.) That being said....many of Monkey's pics illustrated this exact point:
