sometime mid-2004 scaling ended-you're not going to see a jump from 333-3ghz again. intel had to cancel a bunch of stuff and they're tapped out at 3.8, shit's moving to parallelism in general and dual cores i think should be out this year. not a bad idea when you consider a couple of opteron 250s don't have a high clockspeed but fly. but i don't think raw ghz will go up that much anytime soon, seeing the ibm chip apple uses needs watercooling, intel's a mess and amd isn't going to go over 3ghz for a while.
if someone solves this, they'll be really rich and some companies won't exist.
but there's always some new former soviet republic to exploit--i hear latvian girls will work for toilet paper.
