This is indeed promising.....I read something recently about similar research happening here, at Univ of San Francisco (probably in conjunction with Rutgers no doubt).

Words of caution:

They have been trying to this with many viruses (like Influenza, Herpes) and have been frustratingly close-but-no-cigar for the last 10 yrs. Because of its lethality, HIV has obviously been given priority in research (i.e. DOLLARS).

As a VIRUS, hiv has and will continue to evolve and change, just like all viruses do...that's nature. If they are ultimately successful, Vigliance and continued research will still have to be maintained to stay on top of it, but it is promising all the same.
