PORTSMOUTH — He wanted to break into the porn business, but now he's just broke. A 23-year-old Portsmouth man called police last Monday, Nov. 15, after he sent a total of $4,000 to an adult movie production company that promised to land him a role in an adult film but didn't deliver.
The man told police he first heard about Global, the production company, after reading an advertisement in the Providence Phoenix. After getting a promise to be let into a movie, he agreed to send the company $1,500. Later, after the money was sent, he told police company officials instructed him to send another $2,500, which he did. He finally called police after company officials failed to call him with instructions on what to do next, which they had promised.
Police told him that if he did not hear anything back from Global by last Friday, Nov. 19, he should contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation. There was no word this week on whether the call ever came.
