Already boasting a solid roster of Adult companies, mobile content delivery service Inhand Mobile has officially announced its presence in the Adult sector.

Inhand’s platform enables Adult content providers to market their brand by sending video clips, images, ring tones, and applications to cell phones.

“We extend, in a very personal way, what they’re currently doing either with their Web sites or through other innovative ideas to the wireless sector,” said Inhand spokesperson Danielle Simons.

The company started as a mainstream software technology company delivering their platform to mobile carriers. Inhand, the recently launched Adult sister company, is already delivering content for companies like Digital Sin, Score, The Phoenix Group, Wasteland, and Chi Chi LaRue’s Live and Raw.

While there are still some technology issues with mobile content in the United States, mostly due to varying bandwidth across the country and the capabilities of phones, some companies are diving in anyway.

“The user has to know that a service is available and that’s the biggest obstacle right now. If there is a compelling service to have, it will cause people to upgrade their phones. All of the phones being sold today have 90 percent of the capabilities we’re providing. It is simple supply and demand,” Simons said. “It’s really not so much about the technology or the infrastructure, its about where do I get it and who do I get it from?”

In some cases, Inhand is doing what they can to bridge the technology gap.

Since many of the phones commonly used in the United States do not have the ability to play video, Inhand transforms video into Java, which is more readily used.

The Inhand service allows end users to download Adult content or have it sent to them on a regular basis. They can be billed on a per transaction or subscription basis and the companies supplying the content can either use their existing billing mechanism or one set up by Inhand. All transactions are secure and the company will offer pin-based billing in the near future.

Having taken four-and-a-half years and $5 million to bring the company where it is today, Inhand’s players see themselves as the bridge between Adult and the mobile mainstream.

“A lot of the Adult companies that are pushing the mainstream button think they have the wherewithal to do this directly with the carriers,” Simons said. “In the United States the carriers are certainly interested in it. They know the revenue is there, but they’re also very sensitive to the Adult market. They’re not going to endorse it, and certainly not directly endorse it. We provide that buffer, protecting their interests as well as maintaining strict standards that Adult material is not delivered to the wrong individual, someone underage, or violates any state or federal standards.”
