Hands down there is a higher rate of HIV infections among the gay community in "proportion" to the heterosexual community. There is a simple reason for this, save for drug users, gays, generally speaking, are more promiscuous in their sexual behavior.

Don't get me wrong HIV does affect the straight community as well, but if your a gay man engaging in homosexual acts there is a higher chance of gays getting HIV because HIV infection in the gay community is much higher.

For example, go to craigslist and read the homosexual personals, the majority of posters on there are looking for gay hook-ups and many of them list they want to meet a man who is Drug and Disease Free, which means no hardcore drug users and no guys who are HIV positive.
