I worked with a Special Forces guy for years before finding that out - he never brought it up. From memory I think he was LRRP - Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol - not for the faint of heart. He looked like a pudgy salesman, not Rambo.

I never would have heard any of it except that some military visitors recognized him and spilled the beans. He never said anything about it except when drinking, and then no more detail than he had served in Vietnam.
