Four large checks - you have to pay "estimated taxes" quarterly, not yearly.

I guess porn isn't a seasonal business? The tax code seems to boldly assume you earn you money at a steady rate throughout the year. But game authors and such earn most of their money at Christmas, and I only get paid once or twice a year. That makes it harder since in general you're supposed to pay a quarter of your yearly taxes each quarter.

As for buying cars without a job - the wealthiest segment of the population is retirees, and car dealers know how to deal with people who have money but no income. When you take a test drive and let the dealer photocopy your driver's license "for insurance purposes" they do a credit scan while you're out, and by the time you return they know what you can afford and how low the price need or need not go.
