The judge just recused herself.

Over the past few days, the defense filed two motions to recuse. The first was denied. The second was granted. Here is a summary of the motions.

Motion 1: The potential jurors were asked about bias. The were asked if they would believe the testimony of a judge or police officer would be more credible than Doony's testimony. All said that a judge or police officer is more credible than Doony. The jurors were instructed to consider all testimony from an even playing field. The prosecution then asked questions to rehabilitate the jurors, and the judge agreed. The motion to recuse focused on the belief the judge favored the prosecution, and should be recused.

Motion 2: When discussing evidence gathered from Doony's website, the judge repeatedly stated that posts from the website were "his," or made comments such as "He has mentioned that name before in a prior post." She also referred to posts as "Threats." The motion argues that these statements further prove the judge has bias against Doony, and therefore should be recused.

The jury was sent home until a new judge takes over the trial.
