They probably made her work in the soup kitchen at the church to ironically feed the less fortunate, assuming she is still relying on their support. If not, then maybe she has found a local classy gentleman to calm your worried mind, Bluecipher. If she is still in their thrall, it must be rough for Dana to sit through services a couple of times a week. You can't put a leash on a lioness. I picture her mind scheming to get out of the situation every waking moment. Like a trapped animal probing for any weakness in its confinement.
There is a scene in Key Largo where Edward G Robinson's "Johnny Rocco" makes Claire Trevor's "Gaye Dawn" sing in front of the whole group for the booze she desperately needs. She does a horrible job because the years of alcohol abuse have ruined her singing voice and confidence, and then Rocco tells her she ain't getting any booze because: "You were rotten". Let's hope no one ever does that to the Luvinlioness, whether is it booze or roses. But then Humphrey Bogart's "Frank McCourt" pours her a drink and Rocco roughs him up a bit for doing it. Who could be Dana's Frank? Be willing to stand up to Johnny Rocco?
