Got some virgin coconut oil for my uncle yesterday to hopefully help with his Alzheimer's. This was after watching some video online about a doctor who helped treat her husband with the stuff. The test they gave the guy for Alzheimer's was to have him draw the face of a clock. We did this test with my uncle yesterday and it didn't go well. We even drew a circle and put a 12 at the top to get him started off. He wrote a list of the numbers 13 - 24 in a semicircle on the right side of the clock. The guy from the video was able to draw a clock again after a few months of taking coconut oil.

^^^ Thanks for the well wishes. It wasn't my idea to try this. I got called down to play a video for my family on the computer about coconut oil. They couldn't figure out how to get the shit to play. Then they insisted on trying it. I figured I'd buy the coconut oil for my uncle to try. At worst, it might increase the fat & cholesterol in his system to the point where he passes away sooner. Which I would think most people in that situation would want.

Oh, the only only supplement I take that is one of those things they don't want people to know about is a type of B vitamin called benfotiamine. They must really not want you to know about this one, because almost no one has heard about it. It's something they came up with to treat alcoholic nerve damage and then later found out that it prevents the damage to your nerves from the excessive glucose levels seen in diabetics. That's a win/win for me! I've been diabetic for 25 years and don't have a single complication and my dong still functions perfectly. Knock on "wood."

Yeah, he knows who all of us are. He was doing OK for a really long time and then just seriously went to shit in the past year. He was even driving until a month or two ago, but has now lost his license. I guess he has another key to his car because he drove to a restaurant last week and then immediately forgot where he was or how he got there.

He's a commercial fisherman who's been up here since the late 50's. I think he thought if he just ate salmon, he'd live forever. It was kind of sad when he started messing up one of his favorite expressions which he got from talking on the radio while fishing, "What the hell, over?" He would just say, "What the... What the... What the...hell?" and then trail off.

Oh man, at the hardware store today, there was a sweet fridge, drawer freezer on the bottom, brushed stainless finish, crushed ice. It had a dented scratch down the side that would go up against my cabinets. I wish I had the $$ to get it. I gotta get a fridge by the end of the year.

I like built-in fridges and wonder if it can be done inexpensively. Could I just get any cheap brand since it'll be covered by being a built-in anyway? And no ice maker, no nothing interrupting the lines. I'm fine with just ice cube trays in the freezer, and btw it's mind blowing that it took fridge makers this long to start designing the freezer on the bottom which makes total ergonomic sense since you use the freezer part less often. I'd like my kitchen to look like one big row of fine cabinetry (French or English traditional- not modern) as possible. The fridge, the dishwasher...I spend a lot of time thinking about this.

Yes you could. I mean the idea is sound. technically speaking. You would probably want one with enclosed condenser coils on the back. And take into account that the area behind it will get warm.

I never had a fridge w/ an ice maker, but I LOVE crushed ice in a drink instead of cubes. So if I'm gonna drop some dough on a fridge, I'll go with a scratch & dent, and get the ice maker.

Whenever I break down and re do my kitchen, I'm going to put as much commercial stuff in as possible. I'd love to have a fridge only, then a 5' freezer/worktable on the one wall, w/ a cutting board top. Above it, a rack to hang the pots.

I can't decided if this is a good idea or not, but I saw some cube-shaped stones at Bed, Bath & Beyond earlier. You keep them in your freezer and then drop them in your drink to keep it cool without diluting the drink from the melting ice. With me, the melting ice might actually be a good thing as my heavy-handed drink mixes could probably use as much dilution as possible.

^^^Seen those, Steezo. Interesting. The trick my mom (bitch blows Martha Stewart away) taught me was to make ice cubes out of whatever the drink is when it comes to certain drinks, like wine. I enjoy doing it with vodka also. I even put a basil leaf in each cube sometimes- makes the vodka look festive. Here are the highballs I use as vodka glasses.
