I'm surprised at the Mets. I thought the Cardinals or Cubs would have been the NL team in the World Series. Major League Baseball has missed an epic rooting interest in the Cubs story, but I bet they're glad and relieved it's not going to be Cardinals-Royals, or Pirates-Royals.

Ratings-wise, I would think MLB would want Toronto-Mets, since an entire country is rooting for Toronto. Then again, I don't know how MLB revenue works with regard to Canadian ratings. Anyway, the Mets are going into the World Series with a fully rested pitching staff that looks almost unstoppable at this point. It's hard not to pick them to win it.

Other than the "give me free shit", or the jealousy crowd that was never able to take advantage of the trickle down economy, I've never understood how the Bernie crowd actually thinks this is a good thing. And looking through this thread, I've yet to see anyone actually articulate why they support it. Memes and failed history education is all that comes up.

1. This does more to hurt the middle class than any made up tax cut the Left could ever dream of. Min wage jobs are not meant as careers. They are starting points. If you can't afford what you want to have while making min wage, then improve yourself and get better. Raising the wage of low skill and low educated workers (hey, that sounds like Liberal voters) only increases the costs of the goods and service they provide, which in turn takes away from the middle class and sinks them, or causes the wages of the real middle class to go up which puts the min wage right back to where they were.

2. Show me where it says that in the constitution. Just be honest, you want to bribe voters into thinking they'll get something for free, and saddle the middle class with paying for it

3. I'm sorry, but if you want something to have value, it has to have value. You want to know why you need more than High School to get a career? Because HS is free, and anyone can get it. Getting a post secondary school education is what separates the people who want to go after something, from those who don't. But why not ask the real question here; why are students racking up so much debt? Remember before when I told you if you increase the wage of someone (in this case, University staff), you increase the cost? As well, why are people dropping $50,000/year of University if the degree they are working on only makes them qualified for a min wage job? You want a free post secondary school education? Go join the Army or get into the trades. The world doesn't need Art History majors.

The minimum wage for younger workers in Australia is actually around $8/hr so McD's simply relies on them to make up for the higher overall minimum wage. And in France, they've fired all of their order takers and replaced them with automated ordering machines.

It sounds nice and heartwarming to give everyone earning the minimum wage an increase in salary, but the fact is all you're going to do is temporarily upset the apple cart until the free market adjusts to the increase.

Except they won't have any more money to spend. Technically they will have more money but the stuff they spend it on is going to increase in price so they won't be spending it on anything they aren't already spending it on.

You raise the minimum wage of the guy sacking your groceries at the local grocery store (assuming it hasn't gone to primarily self check out lanes to lower the cost of labor already). That increases the labor costs the grocery store is paying. So in turn the grocery store raises the price of the food it sells and that extra money from the wage raise goes back into buying the same food that now costs more. Unless of course the grocery store decides to cut the hours of their workers, cut the benefits of the workers or just cut the number of employees it has working in the store instead. This applies to just about any business or industry. (excluding government)

The left acts like the economy is some kind of reservoir that can be controlled by raising or lowering the outflow. It's not. It's more like a natural wetlands that gathers water that drains into it when it rains and lets water evaporate when it doesn't.
