In Canada, operations like this are free but the waiting lists are long. I don't understand the $1,000 and the NY location. All of it seems a bit odd to me.
Looks like some sort of hoax. Why would she be paying insurance in the US when she has access to the Canadian health service? I suspect an embittered former customer or fan decided to pull some prank or scam.
