Before there was Spanky & Alfalfa, there was Jackie & Chubby. Actually, there were a number of others before them, but those were from Hal Roach's silent era and were never run on Channel 11 in NYC in the '70s and '80s.

Also, I think I mis-remembered the quote. I always thought it was "Oh, Miss Crabtree, I love you with all my heart", but it's "There's something heavy on my heart." Must've been thinking of fat Clemenza's dig at Michael in Godfather I.




Miss Lawrence lived on my block in Brooklyn. She would occasionally give old promo pics of her w/ Spanky & Alfalfa to the neighborhood kids. Much nicer than Chachi who lived a few blocks away and would stand on his stoop selling 8x10s to the neighborhood bims.

Miss Lawrence would hide in a closet during thunderstorms, cause one time she got hit w/ ball lightning through her window.
