I`d actually rather listen to some options that others believe will work. People all around the world and in the US still manage to kill without the use of a gun.

When you say things like that you sound incredibly glib. Yeah, of course there are other ways to kill people. More people die in bath tub accidents than gun assaults. The point is that access to guns makes someone who may have only killed a handful of people now able to kill fifty people. You act is if everyone knows how to make a improvised explosive device. I say this as a fairly ardent proponent of the second amendment even though I am massively left wing on most issues. There is a huge problem involving the american psyche and the relation it has with guns. If you want to get real you would mention the simple statistics that point to a gun owner being much more likely to use that gun on themselves or in domestic violence then they will ever use it against an intruder.

I say it because for all the bluster from the Left, I have yet to hear a single idea that could work. The States that have the toughest gun laws, have the highest gun violence. The States with some of the most lax gun laws, have some of the least. From what I can see, laws don`t work. Making something illegal will not stop a criminal from doing it. But I`d love to hear an idea that you could share

I believe people will take the easiest path with least resistance. Right now that is a gun. Take that away, something else becomes easiest. Figuring out how to make a bomb. Driving or flying an object into a group of people. The gun doesn`t make someone want to kill someone else.

I`d believe more in your stance that guns make it easier to kill people if these mass shootings didn`t always happen where guns weren`t allowed. I can`t see another crazy Liberal walking onto the floor of an NRA convention to try and kill as many as he can. A school, church or concert where guns are banned is a whole lot easier

Ideas that can work are not allowing things like 100 round magazines and bump stocks to be legal. your logic is on the same level of saying there are still murders so why do we make murder illegal. You try to pretend the left is unreasonable when no one is trying to ban your guns and the NRA thinks that people so mentally unstable they are not allowed to have their own bank accounts should be allowed to own fire arms. Again, I give the example of someone who goes apeshit and has a revolver or a shot gun or a pistol with 10-15 rounds versus a bump stock and 30 round magazines or 100 round drums. Are you going to go deer hunting with that shit? Do you think you live in a movie and you are going to have to shoot your way through 20 karate warriors at once? If you are so into the constitution why do not we legalize even more extreme artillery. When the constitution was written the founding fathers intended for the citizens to have the same weaponry that the military had. What exactly do you get out of this? You said the reason a place like Chicago, a city in a State that has some of the toughest and most stringent gun laws in the country, has so many gun murders, is because laws haven't been passed to prevent them. But when I asked you what laws could be put in place, you only mentioned banning bumpstocks and 30 round mags, neither of which has been involved in any of the over 500 murders that take place every year in Chicago. I also would like to ask why laws haven't been passed in Illinois, since it's not some Republican state that was bought by the NRA.

I would think with all the Democrats in power there, they would have no problem passing whatever gun law they want, since they have so many of them to begin with

Make guns like cars. Gotta pass a test to be a licensed owner, register 'em like cars. Phase it in over a couple years, with an enticing buy-back program. Just some more paperwork for hunters and home defenders, legitimate gun owners. Gun without a license or registration would get you in trouble. Mental cases and crooks get no license. Let the cops take the unregistered handguns off the street. Do all guns have serial numbers on them? That would help. This would save a lot of lives, and pass muster with the 2nd Amendment.
