There is a Kmart outside of Trenton that has long been a successful store. One near my ex I got some deals at when it closed to be remodeled into a Sears Essentials and then when it closed to convert back to Kmart and once again when it shuttered completely. Was right across from a Walmart, so it was doomed.

Kmart had a good run. I think of all the other similar stores that closed up in the 80s/90s. Jamesway, Caldor, Clover, Ames, all long since dead and buried. I blame the Sears merger. The only reason Sears isn't Amazon is because the execs were asleep at the wheel and rode that pre-90s catalog business model of "pay us, then get yer stuff whenever" way too long.
