As a diabetic, it's nice to drink something with same flavor to it without having to take a bolus of insulin. Beer, in particular, completely fucks up my bloodsugar. People sometimes call it "liquid bread" because it has the same basic ingredients found in bread, just in different proportions.

I think my liver probably thanks me for drinking diet coke rather than some of the other shit I normally consume.

If you want a grab-n-go drink instead of the diy drinks I listed, find somehere with Kombucha tea. The GT/Synergy brand tastes awesome. Especially the fruity flavors like the berry ones. Raw and only 30 calories? BRING IT! I also like the sour ones like Ginger, Original, etc but I'm hardcore. I will say, the green one tastes blah.

Coffee is fine for diabetics, as long as it's black coffee. With maybe just a touch of cream and no sugar. I generally get iced americanos; just espresso and water over ice. Tea will actually lower my bloodsugar somewhat and seems to have a lasting effect throughout the day. This is for home brewed green tea, not any sort of bottled shit. Kombucha tea sort of grosses me out. The real stuff looks like the Italian sourdough yeast culture that I started and then later abandoned and left in the back of my fridge. That reminds me that I need to wash and feed that culture and see if there's still any life left in the jar.

Regardless of people always saying, "Don't drink booze, man! That shit is distilled from sugar!" Or potatoes, or whatever. If the bottle doesn't contain any carbs, it isn't going to raise your bloodsugar. Unflavored alcohol can actually lower it somewhat because your liver can't release sugar when its processing out the booze in your system. That's why I like vodka tonics. They have just enough sugar to keep my bloodsugar level up. Beer is horrible because it's loaded with carbs. Wine may or may not have carbs, but there's some kind of magic in red wine because I can drink it all night long and my bloodsugar won't budge.

I hate to admit that I actually like the new Bud Light Platinum, although the last batch I bought tasted a little "off." And I can drink it without taking a shitload of insulin.

I'd prefer not to use artificial sweeteners, but my situation is not ideal so I have to make due. I'll drink store-bought beverages with nutrasweet or whatever in them, but at home I'll only occasionally use a little Stevia in my tea or sprinkled on grapefruit or cinnamon toast.

Nah, I wear an insulin pump so I don't take shots. It would be kind of hot though. I think most girls would be kind of squeamish about doing something like that. When I first got diabetes at 14 I started out taking shots via syringe and I would fuck with my friends by stabbing the needle into my leg through my jeans and then leaving it dangling there. Or, I'd take my shot in my upper arm and then flex my muscles to make the syringe dance around. Also, I used to walk around with a BD syringe in my mouth, chewing on the plastic cap like people chew on a straw or a pen.

My mom's friend used to take insulin shots. Our family went skiing with their family when I was 7 and I'd beg to play with the needles.

Here are some of the torture devices from my youth. The first is the original finger-poking lancet device that they gave diabetics back in the day. Imagine giving this to a kid and telling him to press the bright Warning-red button and release the spring-loaded needle towards his fingertip.

Then there was the Medi-Jector, pressurized needle-less hypo. Being a Star Trek fan, I thought this would be way cooler than taking shots. No. It was horribly painful and felt like you were stabbing yourself whenever you'd shoot up. You can't see the red release button that you'd press to shoot out the insulin. It looked like something the President would press to launch all missiles. I still have this thing around somewhere. The only thing it was ever good for was shooting my friends with high pressure, needle-thin streams of water, or insulin. Insulin smells horrible, btw.

I bought a choke for a shotgun, but it was the wrong one for the gun in mind. I have too many shotguns to remember and I bought a Remington choke for a Winchester gun. I want a skeet or Improved Cylinder choke for my Winchester 1300 20 ga and I bought a choke for a Remington. I like to use that small gun to introduce women or children to shooting clays and it's perfect for that. Except they can't hit pigeons with a Full Choke. (It's a turkey gun). I can shoot them all day with it but they can't. I think a wider pattern will help their confidence level.
