Unlikely because Columbia, South Carolina, is the heart of the Old South, with a statue of a Confederate soldier and a Confederate flag - that symbol of slavery, fluttering above it, and a flag which I saw a white man salute.


The Confederate flag is not a symbol of slavery, it became known as that long after the war. Remember there were as many slaves North of the Mason Dixon line as South of it, and I don't remember seeing any Confederate flags flying up there. (Stepping down from soapbox.)
