I signed up for my first Twitter account this morning and quickly concluded it is a completely stupid and worthless piece of shit. How on Earth did this become a thing? How is it being sold to celebs and politicians that a "Twitter presence" is essential for their careers? The only function this thing serves as far as I can tell is you might get a chance to say something horrible to a public figure or at least their assistant or intern or whatever.Completely stupid and overrun with bot accounts and trolls who are not funny. And how was this arbitrary 140 character limit arrived at? I completely don't get it.

You've pretty much got it right. I've only ever wanted to have a Twitter so I can scream at shitbags and encourage them to commit suicide.

I only ever tweeted once and that was during Charlie Sheen's big meltdown a few years back when he was referring to his hollywood enemies as "orcs & trolls" and then went on the roof of a building waving a sword around. I tried to form a joke asking him if his sword was like the sword "Sting" from the Lord of the Ring movies except for it glowed blue when Jews were around. I found the 140 character limit stifling and couldn't really get the joke to sound right. And he didn't respond anyway.

It is good if you follow the better news services and reporters to keep up on the news. Less pointless shit than FB that way and proper news instead of fadish, smug posturing.
