Bateman plays a 40 year old guy who finds a loophole to enter a national spelling bee competition. His goal is to make a mockery of the whole thing as revenge. At one point he takes a 10 year old to a hooker to see his first set of boobs.

I have learned to not fall into the HBO/Showtime original series trap. Even though I have Starz, they never had any interesting original series except for Party Down. Just finished watching Fargo. It was much better than the movie. I wanted Billy Bob Thorton's character to win. I have to admit that lately I am always rooting for the criminals or serial killers on tv/movies as long as their not black.

Starting a show from Britain called Broadchurch next. Someone on another board I lurk claims its better than game of thrones. I have my doubts but its only like 8 episodes long.

Broadchurch is not as good as GoT but it is a pretty good crime/who done it show. I'm only 3 episodes in.

I also tried to watch Gun Girl. I couldn't stand the story telling device they used and the shitty acting, both the english actors and the japanese. I made it about 20 minutes into the movie then turned it off.

I'm watching "Wire in the Blood". Its another show from the UK. Its good but not great. All the nudity in the show are dead women.

The Last Ship. I haven't give SyFy a chance since Galactica, but I love post- shithittingthefan.

Horrible acting. Lots of dramatic countdowns. The dialogue is corny. The XO is that John Wayne grandson who's always a high ranking military guy. The captain is the unholy bastard child of Kirk, Zap Brannigan and Wings Hauser.

But I'm hookied on the storyline. The acting and such is just bad enough to be hilarious. I'm in for the duration.

Free preview of WWE Network. I was expecting a huge amount of content, so I'm kind of disappointed. Watching old World Class. David's doing great, but I have a bad feeling about him.

I've watched a season and a half of UK Shameless. The US version did the same script as the UK for one season so its 99% the same with british actors and geography. The first episode of the UK version had some blair witch project camera work but it settled down after that. It took me about 4 episodes to transition my head into the UK version. A good number of the UK actors are average to downright ugly. After the 4 episode transition the show is just as funny, maybe a cunt hair more comedy then dramedy. Frank fucks Karen a lot more in the UK version but less nudity. I have some trouble understanding the actors sometimes as they tend to speak marble mouth english. The black lesbian is annoying as fuck in both versions. Entertaining and worth the time to watch in my opinion.

I forgot to mention that Charles Xavier from X-men first class is Fiona's boyfriend in the UK version.

The commercials for this show turned me off but I caught a repeat and decided to download season 1. James Spader's character is pretty good. Not too impressed with the rest of the cast. The first half of season one was good but it started going down hill from there. They drug shit out too long then tried to tie it all up way to fast at the end.

The Strain -
I think I read the book, which was cowritten by Guillermo del Toro and some potboiler author named Chuck Hogan. It was the classic airport read with paint by numbers plot, pacing and characters. Felt like Guillermo del Toro had a chat with the guy and the book was written over a weekend. I hope the TV version is better. Caught a bit of it.
