I just have a few words to say regarding that hateful, unsophisticated little imp Sam Harris, since I got into a verbal argument with one of his acolytes the other day, which is a thing that gets tossed out a lot to "prove" Sam Harris is a SUPAR SMERT INTELLIGANT MAN; he has a phd in cognitive neuroscience.

For the record: Cognitive neuroscience is a bunch of hacky bullshit which should not be confused with the legitimate science of neurology

Cognitive neuroscience is bascially putting people into fMRIs and asking them a bunch of questions and then drawing conclusions based on the images seen on the scan. It is an interdisciplinary study and people in this field come from a variety of backgrounds; Sam Harris had a M.A. in philosophy before he got into the cognitive neuroscience phd program. These people usually have an extremely simplified understanding of the brain.

Meta-studies show that the entire field is just an incoherent mess and the accumulated data cannot show a fucking insightful thing. How are you even going to control for other thoughts and emotions besides those related to your research question influencing the results of the fMRI?
