Hoffa

DVD set of Season 4 of 'Seinfeld'. This was prompted by my recently discovering that Jason Alexander badmouthed actress Heidi Swedberg (who plays Susan an NBC exec involved in greenlighting Jerry and George's sitcom pilot and ultimately becomes engaged to George and was a major recurring character over several seasons) on the Stern show last year. Alexander told Stern that she was "impossible" to act with. Now, allowing that guests on Stern heighten everything to fit his format, I still found this a surprising disclosure as I recall always having really liked her as an actress and thought she fit in well on the show. I'm looking for hints of this discontent, much in the same way I watch pornography.

I finished River of Death. Horrible adaptation of an Alistair Mclean book[?] Not recommended at all.

Watched the cartoonish kung fu classic Masked Avengers. Fun.

Flyers-Caps

Flyers are done either way especially without Contourier but they really need to bench Mason after that awful game two. Unless someone Malarchuks Brandon Holtby I don't really see anyone in the East beating the Capitals.

Pens-Rangers

Strange to say but Pittsburgh might have been better off without Malkin. Made everyone else on the team work harder and made their opponents take them a little bit lightly. Rangers are awfully banged up though.

Lightning-Wings

Another one that is pretty much over unless the Wings can convince Hasek to come out of retirement. Detroit looks old and slow outside of Larkin, Helm, and Abinseeyu or however you spell it.

Referees in the second game may have been the worst referees I have ever seen in a Stanley Cup playoff game. Datsyuk gets a tooth knocked out by an elbow and is called for the penalty. Detroit goes on a power play after Ryan Shahan smashes Palot's face into the boards behind the Tampa Bay net. Erickson pulls Boyle's stick out of his hand and throws it down the ice and Boyle gets called for interference. That was all in about a five minute time span in the second period.

Panthers-Islanders
Doesn't matter which team wins. Neither one is getting past round two without vast improvement in the net.

Blues-Hawks

Blues are my favorite team and I like how they hit but they play a very blah style of hockey. Hits are nice but the winner of the game is the team that puts the puck in the net the most, not the team that puts the other team's players into the bench the most.

Wild-Stars
Series most likely to end in a sweep. That Rousel goal is going to do to the Wild what the Chimera goal is going to do to the Flyers.

Haven't seen any of the Kings-Sharks or Preds-Ducks games yet. I will be very surprised if the Kings don't come back and make a series out of it with San Jose. The Kings in the playoffs are like roaches. They keep coming back from the dead and Quick is too good to get swept out of a series. Sharks also have a history of not dealing well with early success in playoff series too.

I was wrong, the Flyers are going to be the first team swept out of the playoffs, but not before their fans put on a wonderful show showing how Philly fan is the most idiotic fan in sports. Their penalty kill strategy of taking penalty after penalty after penalty until all the Capitals players arms fall off from taking shots at the piece of Swiss cheese wearing the Flyers goalie mask probably needs to be adjusted too.

'The Atomic Cafe', an absolutely exsquisite collation of archival material from the Cold War, documenting the birth of the atomic age and into the paranoia and anxiety of the Red Scare era. The effect is pitch black comic and the only editorial voice is the juxtaposition of the clips overlain with well chosen musical numbers from the times. Highly recommended if you value my opinion on these sorts of things, which you really don't have any good reason to.

no, they own tons of networks now (Viacom, that is) and the dead movie might have been on mtv2 or some such version.

They recently announced they were going to move back towards more music programming.

I watched Richard Linklater's 'Waking Life' and really enjoyed it. But I can't help but think the raw footage would've been intolerable if they hadn't drawn rotoscope cartoons overtop of it. Alex Jones was in this thing for about 30 seconds. He seemed way less crazy then. This came out in 2001, the same year as 'Gag Factor 5' with Aurora Snow.
